We are excited to announce that Navigating Elderhood's sixth virtual care advocacy training, led by founder Cori Levin, will be taking place in March!

Care advocates with advanced skills are widely sought after by families with aging loved ones. More and more families are looking for a trusted individual with a trained eye who may have a medical background or past experiences with aging individuals but is most importantly a caring person. This training provides in-depth instruction on the practical and emotional skills needed for this work.

Navigating Elderhood’s training includes four total classes and the opportunity to register for 1:1 coaching sessions. Virtual trainings will be held on March 6, 13,  and 20 with the hope of an in-person-only class on a Sunday decided by the small group. For out of town participants, there will be a virtual option.  Participation is required by all registrants, and every participant will need a working camera on their phone or computer for lessons.

The Lessons Included:

March 6: Listen

This class explores in-depth the meaning of compassionate care advocacy. It also teaches the active listening skills essential to understanding and advocating for a client. These skills include the use of critical thinking and problem solving when listening to a client as well as anticipating client needs due to observation and intuition.

March 13: Manage and Communicate

This class will walk participants through a variety of case studies and scenarios in which care advocacy skills are practiced and applied. It will also delve into facilitating family communication during difficult times, diagnoses, and the end of life.

March 20: Care and Maintain

This class focuses on the practical skills that are needed and useful in care advocacy. These include nurse assistant skills, creation and execution of an individualized care plan, and assistance of a client with daily living, grooming, and transfers.

Sunday in person: Providing Comfort with no Cure

Location TBD

This class instructs participants on options to prepare a client for the end of life, including comfort techniques, essential conversations, and resources. Topics discussed include hospice care, the Five Wishes document, end of life signs and symptoms, and more.

Individual 1:1 Coaching Sessions allow you to receive highly personalized attention that focus on your professional needs and personal barriers. Cori takes the time to help you apply course teachings to your current or intended role as a care advocate. This can also be a time for personalized guidance on how best to use your skills and navigate the unique situations in this profession.

Pricing is as follows:

Register for all 4 classes = $957

2 Additional 1:1 Coaching Sessions = $200 and fulfilled within three months of completing the training.

Registration is currently open and will close on February 28th.
